What is Counselling and how can it benefit me?
When anyone asks me "What is counselling about and how can it help me?". I always start by saying i believe it is about the human condition. It really is an open ended inquiry into what it means to be a human being. As human beings we all go through an amazing journey within our lifespan, from the miricle of birth to the mystery of death. On this journey many of us experience challenging, painful and confusing periods in our lives , when we may experience alot of struggle and suffering.
"There is a Crack in everything, thats how the light gets in" Leonard Cohen
Counselling can help us to make sense of all this, and to see that all these difficultys can actually become doorways which we can move through, and set us on a road to change and growth. As a result of this many people find working with a counsellor to be a rich and and life changing experience. In a way the counselling experience could seen as a inner journey that we go on, which at times can be painful and challenging, but often rewarding and sometimes even wondrous.
